Grimsdyke Hike – Orienteering Event

Message from the Quest Organising Team. Should you have any queries please contact the Parish Clerk who can direct you appropriately:

On 23rd – 24th November 2019 we are running an orienteering event, called Grimsdyke Hike, in the Stokenchurch area, this will involve around 250 Scouts and Guides on 6 different routes, to avoid bunching, finding their way from point to point. The junior teams, about two thirds of the total, are shadowed, by an appropriately cleared adult, usually a Scout Leader, around the route on Saturday, starting and finishing in Stokenchurch. Hopefully they do not go too far off course!  Senior teams are set a harder challenge with a camp overnight at Watlington Farm as well.  Some teams use this as an opportunity to start their Duke of Edinburgh Award. We trust that all will observe the Country Code and not offend any local people.  We are always grateful of locals’ understanding of our training of young people, and hope that there will not be any problems of that weekend.  However if there are any issues please do let us know.  If you have any queries in the meantime please do ask and I will provide as much information as I can.  You may find that supporting this event means that you can claim it as part of the diversification in use of the land.
